Terms of hire (provisional)

1) The Hirer undertakes to ensure that the equipment is used only in a safe and appropriate environment, under the supervision of a qualified coach who is registered with Britsh Fencing

2) A representative of Southern Region will inspect the equipment prior to each hire period, but it remains the reponsibility of the hirer to ensure that the equipment is in safe condition before each usage. The hirer's attention is specifically drawn to British Fencing's safety guidelines at available here

3) The hirer undertakes to launder each item of clothing (Jackets, Plastrons and Breeches) before returning them. Items returned unlaundered will be laundered by the region, at a charge to the hirer of £5 per item.

4) The hirer undertakes to take reasonable precautions for the security of the hired equipment, and shall bear the cost of any lost, stolen or damaged items, except for reasonable wear and tear. Damages existing at the beginning of the hire period should be noted on the hire agreement.

5) It is the hirers responsibilty to collect and return the equipment at the beginning and end of the hire period. Should the hirer fail to return the equipment on time, a deduction will be made from the deposit at twice the rate applicable to the hire for each week or part thereof that the equipment is not returned.

6) Payment. A booking fee may be required in advance of the hire period, which will be deducted from the hire charge. The minimum hire from the tariff sheet is payable on collection of the equipment. A deposit of £250 against loss or breakage should be made - this can take the form of a cheque payable to "British Fencing - Southern Region" This cheque should be signed, but not dated, and will be returned uncashed at the end of the hire period, subject to deductions for loss or damage or late return.
