Veterans Winton Cup 2025
This years Vets Winton was held at Lilleshall over the weekend of 20th/21st September.
10 teams competed and we came an excellent 2nd behind the SouthEast.
Womens epee were 2nd and Womens foil 3rd
Both Mens foil and epee were 2nd .
The weekend before the competition we had full teams of 4, but by the end of the weekend
the only teams with 4 were mens epee and sabre, which highlighted the need of teams of 4.
The teams were:-
Mens Epee
Steve Bateman, Philippe Barbasiewicz, Tim Stephens and Alard Westarp
Womens Epee
Anne Tester, Ella Petuhhov, Helen Howells and Veronique Meheut
Mens Foil
Graham Reid, Danny Blake, Gerry Gajardhsingh and Andy Southwell
Womens Foil

Mens Sabre
Carl Morris, Alasdair McIntyre, Adrian Griffin and Martin Toms
Womens Sabre

THEY WERE ALL FANTASTIC

Senior Winton Cup 2025
Last July was one of the most difficult Senior Winton Cups for the Southern Region to enter in my memory, with lack of fencers for weapons and last minute changes in circumstances. Despite not being able to field a WS or WF team at all, and most other teams having only 3 fencers AND carrying injuries, everyone who did attend fought admirably! I am very proud of the resiliency shown, and spirit of camaraderie.

As a reminder to all, the Senior Winton Cup is held each year during the first week or two of July, which gives us plenty of time to form teams. This really is the Pinnacle for Regional fencing, and our opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of the Southern Region.
Keep an eye out for The Regional Championships this year, focus on your training and competitions to improve your British Ranking positions where possible, but most of all - have fun and enjoy your fencing!
